    A New Pavilion

Derby City Council and the Football Association are working together to prepare a bid for funding to replace the changing rooms, which were destroyed following an arson attack.
As well as renewing the changing rooms the application will seek funds to provide additional facilities in the new block including a community room, kitchen area, public toilets, office space and storage space.
Outside the project will include renovating the kick about areas with the latest 3rd Generation surfacing and improvements to the external lighting.
Richard Mervill who is working on preparing the bid gave a short presentation explaining that the intention is to develop a facility, which would be regularly used throughout the week. It was hoped that there would be a range of groups or organisations who would want to use the facility not only football clubs. A number of groups have already expressed interest in using the community space for meetings, talks, hospitality and to compliment activities in the Park.
There will also be an office, which will be used by Council staff when on site. There has also been a suggestion that local groups could have the opportunity to use the office on a programmed timetable. It is hoped that this would promote both the groups, their activities and the Park.
The intention is that a well used Alveston Park is less likely to suffer the amount of vandalism and anti social behaviour than is presently the case.
The bid to the Football Foundation will be submitted in October and if successful the building work will commence in 2008 Richard asked if anyone had ideas for how the building could be used or features that would make it more useful could they contact him on Derby 715813 or email: Richard.Mervill@derby.gov.uk
